What Is Somali Shaah?
Shaah — Somali spiced tea — is more than a drink; it’s a gesture of hospitality. Made from black tea brewed with milk and a warm blend of spices, it’s poured slowly from a height to cool and aerate, then shared among friends.
Every household has its own way. Ours starts with quality black tea, sweetened to taste, and a gentle hand with ginger, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves. The result is a cup that’s both comforting and unmistakably vibrant.
